Residency Sites: Learning in Community
At the Institute for Nurture and Innovation (TINI), our residency sites serve as the heart of our teacher education model. A residency site is a prepared Montessori environment for adults, often housed in a school or community-based program. This is where adult learners engage in person with other members of their cohort and instructors, for a total of 80 hours, typically over 2 consecutive weeks. These settings provide a living laboratory for observation, mentorship, and applied practice, allowing adult learners to witness Montessori principles in motion while developing their own reflective and responsive teaching identities through hands-on activities and dialogue.
TINI’s low-residency model makes this immersive experience accessible to a wider range of adult learners. By offering multiple residency locations, we reduce barriers related to travel and relocation while maintaining the integrity of in-person Montessori training. Each site offers a distinct cultural and community perspective, helping learners see how Montessori education can adapt to and thrive within diverse settings.
Our residency approach blends in-person engagement with online coursework and reflective supervision, ensuring that every learner experiences both the intimacy of local mentorship and the richness of a global Montessori network.
Attendance at a residency is mandatory for graduation from the program, as it is both an MACTE and AMS requirement.
